Today Joop and I woke up to a wonderfully cooked Southwestern breakfast prepared by Margaret. We had eggs, potatos (from her garden), toast, sausage, bacon, beans, and green chili. I wish we could get this breakfast every morning!! After breakfast we said our goodbyes to our wonderfully gracious hosts. I don't think we could ever thank them enough for everything that they did for us so selflessly.

We left Hesston heading towards Newton, and passed a few cyclists on the way who had stayed at the bike hostel/bike shop in Newton the night before. They told us all about it and said we should check it out, but by the time that we were rolling by the bike shop still was not yet open.

Today we didn't have quite so much wind to deal with, though the humidity is definitely getting much higher. We had another fairly big stretch without services - 40 miles. It wasn't too hard to make it through this though because the weather was much more mild for the first part of the day. At the end of the stretch we rode into Cassoday where we went into the only open store to get a quick snack and drink.

From Cassoday we had another 35 miles or so to make it to Eureka where we would be staying for the night. The rest of the ride was a bit hot as the sun was coming out more. We made one stop in Rosalia to eat a small lunch before continuing on to Eureka.

When we got into Eureka arriving with another cyclist, Matt, I gave Robyn a call (the lady whose place we would be staying at). She was out in her car so she decided to drive to us to give us directions to her place. She has a rental house that currently does not have a tenant so she allows cyclists to come and stay there.

We got to the house and Robyn gave us the quick tour and offered us some chocolate milk and ice water. We all chatted for a while and then started the cycle of showers. After we cleaned off and talked for a while longer with Robyn, Joop and I sat outside for a bit and wrote up our blogs for yesterday. Later we started to make a nice big dinner with the food that was available at the house. With Robyn's help we made some chicken and veggies and rice which made for a delicious meal - accompanied with beer of course!

Talking with Robyn outside. Don't mind my tan lines and extreme skinniness.

While Matt was out getting food he also brought back one more cyclist with him - Monica. We all talked for a while and ate some ice cream and hung out, then Robyn drove Joop and I to her office so that we could hop on the wifi and upload our blogs for today and yesterday!
